About Us

The Harvest Moon Café began as the Cave Spring Trading Company in Cave Spring, Georgia in 1998. We started with an oven and decided to bake bread. “Well, as long as we’re going to sell bread, we might as well sell sandwiches.” What started as a small bakery with one employee grew over time and expanded to a small location in East Rome in 1999. After realizing that our product and service were popular, we searched for the perfect location in historic downtown Rome, and began renovation which took about one year. We brought the building back to its original state with the exposed brick and hardwood floors and added colorful artwork and lighting to give the restaurant a lively and unique atmosphere. The building was ready in November 2001. We opened only for lunch in the beginning but within a month offered dinner and a full bar. In April 2006, we added the open air “Moon Roof Bar” with heat and curtains so it is available year round for a fun casual “beach bar” atmosphere. We opened our latest venture, Dark Side of the Moon, on Halloween night of 2014. With its entire front made up of large glass doors, it’s a perfect view of beautiful downtown Rome. Beyond the Dark Side our Moon River room seats up to 100 people for anything from weddings to corporate events and is managed by the Harvest Moon Catering Department.
