This position is located at our Floyd Campus.

Job Summary

This position prepares and delivers excellent instruction as a part-time instructor for Georgia Highlands College, a multi-site college in the University System of Georgia. This position instructs students in the certified nursing assistant program (CNA) to be prepared for examination and certification to practice in health care systems. The instructor must follow state provided guidelines to ensure students are introduced to requirements and demands of the job.

Responsibilities

• Is responsible to understand, support, and carry out the college's mission, vision, and values and comply with mandates and regulations of government and accrediting bodies.

• Shapes a curriculum for students based on guidelines identified by certification requirements established by the state in which the student seeks certification.

• Builds knowledge and develops clinical skills aimed at assisting students to obtain the CNA license

• Provides students with hands-on training needed for practice in nursing or long-term care facilities, hospitals and other health care operations.

• Provides students with one-on-one training and lectures.

• Teaches students warning signs in patients that may give clues to common medical conditions.

• Provides basic first aid training; teaches students how to take vitals (blood pressure and temperature); and how to maintain patient records.

• Provides instruction in proper lifting procedures and basic care duties including bathing, cleaning and hygiene.

• Maintains accurate records of student attendance, schedules and course requirements regarding hours of instruction and content.

• Evaluates and documents student progress through testing, observation, and assessment of skills attained.

• Maintains timely and proper communication with students and Manager of Continuing and Professional Education via phone, email, and other electronic means.

• Performs other related duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

• Current and valid RN or LPN License in the State of Georgia

• Must have worked in long-term care for a minimum of one year

• Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field


Proposed Salary

The salary for this position is $3150.

The course is expected to begin January 2024
